WHAT CAUSES IMPOTENCE?

Most men will experience impotence - failure to achieve or maintain an erection - at some time in their lives. This is usually a temporary experience, often due to anxiety or too much alcohol.
For many men, impotence or ED is a persistent, chronic problem that causes much anxiety, stress and unhappiness for them and their partners.
Only small part of ED's patients are mainly due to psychological(mental) problem that related to stress, fear of failure and relationship problems. Whereas, modern medicine has shown that about half of these problems are due to physical causes.

Among the medical conditions causing ED are:
-Diabetic complications
-Poor circulation due to narrowed arteries
-Nerve damage
-Hormone problems, such as lack of testosterone
-Overuse of alcohol and tobacco
-Some prescribed drugs
-Disease of the liver or kidneys

Some of the medications that may cause ED are sedatives, tranquillisers, blood pressure drugs and diuretics. The problem can also occur following surgery to the bladder, prostate gland, lower bowel and spine.
Psychological causes could be stress over a recent life event or a change in lifestyle. Psychological causes account for about 15% of ED cases, but there is also often a psychological element to ED that has a physical basis.

Whatever the cause, though, most men with ED can be treated!!

For your info, up to 47% of Malaysian men above 40 suffer from ED, studies have revealed that only 10% speak to their doctors about ED, of which a mere 4% actually receive treatment.
