There are 3 types of diagnostic tests ie. Determine HIV 1/2, Determine HBsAg and Determine Syphilis TP. All of these are the latest simple, rapid diagnostic tests that can help healthcare provider to diagnose individual HIV, Hepatitis B and syphilis infection.
Why Determine??
Firstly, all diagnostic tests above are very RAPID, it's take only 15 minutes, patients can be tested and treated in the same visit.
Secondly, the procedure is very SIMPLE, just 2 steps ie. Step 1,add 50 micro liter of sample to pad.(If using whole blood,please add chase buffer). Step 2, wait 15 minutes, then read the result. (2 red bars=positive, 1 red bar=negative)
Thirdly, all tests above are very FLEXIBLE. Heathcare provider can use whole blood or serum/plasma and collection can be by finger prick or venipuncture.
Lastly, it is easy to transport and store in nearly any environmental condition(2-30 Celsius).
With all these above, may be it will be easier for the healthcare provider to minimise the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases in Malaysia.
