Men who suffer fertility problems because of low sperm quality may be able to improve their chances of fatherhood by having sex every day, research from Australia has suggested.

Regular ejaculation empties this sperm reservoir, making sure that newly produced sperm of higher genetic quality can get out.

Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield, said that clearing the reservoir was more important when sperm had high levels of genetic damage. “If you get above 30 to 40 per cent damaged DNA, a man is highly likely to be infertile,” he said. “When you put people on a daily ejaculation regime, it reduces that figure for DNA damage. If you can go from 30 per cent down to 20 per cent that is quite a big shift, that should have implications for fertility.

ONE-NIGHT STANDS IN MALAYSIA

ONE-NIGHT stands may be just flings for some working women but “doing it for fun” has left many of them infected with HIV, reported Berita Minggu.
It used to be that HIV-infected women were mainly housewives, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican told the paper.
Lately, however, the disease has hit more and more professional women, including doctors, accountants, lawyers and teachers.
Dr Ismail said that many of them thought one-night stands would not cause any problem.
According to statistics provided by the ministry’s Sexually Transmitted Diseases and AIDS Unit, the number of women infected with HIV had increased by about 250% since 1996.
Last year saw 976 deaths from AIDS, of which 80 were women.

GARDASIL

Gardasil is the world's first vaccine to prevent cervical cancer and HPV-related diseases caused by types 6, 11, 16 & 18.

Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide, causing approximately 750 deaths everyday, nearly 274,000 deaths each year.

Gardasil which was registered with Drug Control Authority and approved in Malaysia in October 2006, helps the prevention of cervical cancer: cervical pre-cancers; vulvar pre-cancers and vaginal pre-cancers caused by HPV(Human Papillomavirus) types 16 and 18. The vaccine is also approved for the prevention of genital warts and low grade cervical lesions caused by HPV types 6, 11, 16 & 18.

The vaccine is approved for 9 to 26 year-old girls and women. It is administered through injection in 3 doses, with an interval of 2 months between the first and second dose, and an interval of 4 months between the second and third dose.

Unfortunately this vaccination will not protect against HPV types not included in the vaccine. This vaccine is NOT intended to be used for treatment of active genital warts; cervical cancer or vulvar and vaginal intraepithelial neoplasias.

One lesser known fact is that cervical cancer is caused by certain types of a common virus called HPV( don't confuse with HIV), HPV can cause cervical cancer, other cancers, abnormality of the cervical cells, precancerous changes to the cervical tissues and genital warts. Therefore, women need to be proactive in taking measures to help protect themselves from this disease.

Remember, please don't trust your sex partner 100%. He might be the virus carrier.

LYBREL- DRUG THAT CAN END PERIODS

Lybrel is on sale in USA under the name Anya and its manufacturer, US pharmaceutical giant Wyeth.

Lybrel, the first pill designed to be taken continuously, is likely to appeal to women keen to stop menstruation from intruding into their hectic working lives, as well as the millions whose lives are blighted by Premenstrual Tension. Like the majority of oral contraceptives, Lybrel is a combined pill, containing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. The doses of hormone have been lowered to allow it to be taken without a break.

However, the pill does not work for everyone and some women will experience bleeding. Some clinician for sexual health warn that stopping periods completely could mask infertility problems and unexpected pregnancies,anyway it does not damage fertility.

PREMATURE EJACULATION ? HOW TO SOLVE IT ?

Premature ejaculation is ejaculation that occurs too early, usually before, upon, or shortly after penetration. If this occur, how are you going to satisfy your sex partner

For men, this is the commonest sexual problem of all. It is particularly likely early on in a relationship and generally triggered by anxiety and tension.

Premature ejaculation can be a significant problem for couples. If the man ejaculate before his partner reaches orgasm, she may be left feeling unsatisfied and may become resentful.

Recommendation:

Limit your coffee and tea intake. High intake of coffee and tea can lead to the feelings of anxiety and tension.

Stop and start technique, the technique involves stimulation of penis, either manually or through intercourse. He signals his partner to stop stimulation, which is resumed after 20 to 30 seconds.
